HRE Development:

  • The final TMG import phase for Sources, Citations and Repositories is well under way, with all required screens built and linked together, as well as the import of TMG Source and Citation data being complete.
  • The HRE implementation of Citations extends TMG capabilities by adding the ability to record ‘who was the Assessor?’ to all Citations.
  • The next steps are to complete the import of Source Elements, Source Types and Repositories. The intent is to break TMG restrictions on the use of Source Elements by group, which has been a bone of contention for many users (Ref: Hoffman: The Master Genealogist pp.95 et seq). We are also implementing multi-language capability for Source Element names.

HRE Presentations:

  • We presented HRE’s development status at the June RUG meeting and followed that with a discussion on the potential for the use of AI Tools to convert imported TMG sentence templates to narrative text
  • A recording of the RUG presentation is available on the RUG website at https://www.rootsusers.org/ under ‘RUG Meeting Presentations’.

The Future

  • The team is often asked for a release date for HRE, but it is not yet on the near horizon, so please be patient.
  • Since the RUG meeting we have been experimenting with the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) engines to compile report sentences from HRE data, including imported TMG sentence templates, and it looks promising, but a decision on implementation is a long way off at present.
