HRE Development and Test:

  • The final TMG import phase for Sources, Source Types, Citations and Repositories has been completed and as advised in our last Newsletter it eliminates the restrictive TMG concept of Source Element groups, provides Source Elements in multiple languages and provides (for new projects) a new set of Source definitions, (based loosely on Mill’s Evidence Explained 4th edition) in multi-language formats
  • We have also now added to HRE the ability to import from TMG any defined Relationship settings. Additionally, if you refresh Relationships in HRE, up to 2 relationships to your defined focus person will be displayed
  • Testing of HRE has been thrown open to an expanding Beta test group. To date this has involved two tranches of invited members and it is intended to add further members until the group has reached a critical mass.

HRE Presentations:

  • The current status of HRE was presented to the RUG group in March 2026
  • A recording of the RUG presentation is available on the RUG website at https://www.rootsusers.org/ under ‘RUG Meeting Presentations’.

The Future:

  • After the current ‘shake-down’ by the expanding test group has been completed a decision will be made by the HRE Board regarding a general release strategy. It should be stressed that at this stage a number of TMG’s features, such as Primary event indication, Primary name per event, Married Name and Aggregate Surety display, amongst others, are not yet implemented in HRE.
  • The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools within, or as a supplement to, HRE is something that is on our “let’s explore” list, but when and how is a big question.

This Mailing List:

It is noted that a small proportion of recipients are not opening these Newsletters, and as we pay for the MailChimp service if we can reduce to recipient list it will help. Please click the UNSUBSCRIBE link at the bottom if you no longer want to receive HRE news. Of course, you can rejoin at any time – for free!
